Patek Philippe Neptune 5085/1J

Patek Philippe’s little-known Neptune line first made an appearance in 1996 with the reference 5080, which featured nothing more than the time and date. This was followed two years later by the 5085, versions of which were launched in steel and, like this one, yellow gold. Its asymmetric silver dial accommodates a power reserve display between 10 and 11 o’clock, as well as small seconds at 4 o’clock and a moon phase set within a radial date display. The exhibition caseback reveals Patek Philippe’s self-winding calibre 240 with gold micro-rotor, which keeps the thickness of the case to a relatively slender 10mm. This exceptional watch, now discontinued, comes on a highly polished yellow-gold bracelet with supple “fish-scale” links.
